Monogamy is the practice of forming intimate and sexual relationships with only one person, usually with the intention of a long-term relationship or marriage. This may be a moral choice, such as members of religious groups in which monogamy is strictly enforced with any alternative being considered adultery, or a personal aesthetic practiced by people who have no desire to be with more than one partner.

Monogamy is contrasted with polyamory.
