Pansexuality, is a sexual orientation that falls on the multisexial spectrum, sometimes referred to as "mspec", as opposed to the asexual spectrum, or "aspec". It can be characterized by the potential for aesthetic, romantic, or sexual attraction regardless of, or including, their gender identity or biological sex. Some pansexuals suggest that they are gender-blind; that gender and sex are insignificant or irrelevant in determining whether they will be sexually attracted to others.

The word pansexual is derived from the Greek prefix pan-, meaning "all". All is specifically in reference to human genders. In its simplest form, pansexuality denotes the potential of sexual attraction to all genders.

The adjective pansexual may also be applied to organizations or events. In this context, the term usually indicates an openness to the involvement of people of all genders and sexual orientations in said organization/event, and to the pansexual sexual identity.

Pansexuality VS Bisexuality

The terms "pansexual" and "bisexual" are not mutually exclusive. Bisexual is a very broad term and depends on how each individual defines it for themselves. It's important to remember that any sexuality can include transphobic and enbyphobic members.

Bisexualty can be defined as attraction to:

  • Your gender and other gender
  • Your gender and one other gender
  • Similar and different genders
  • Any two genders

Multisexual Umbrella or Spectrum

Omnisexuality is usually for people do not say that they are gender blind, and may have a preference for a specific gender while still being attracted to all. If there was a spectrum for preference, omnisexual would be at one end, and pansexuality would fall somewhere after along with bisexual.

Anthrosexuality (anthro- literally meaning human; human-sexual) If omnisexual is for people that are not gender-blind, anthrosexuality may be considered the the opposite, as it is specifically for those that are gender-blind. It would fall inbetween pansexual and psychesexual on a preference spectrum.

Psychesexuality It does not stop at gender, but also goes on to say that it is for people that have no physical preferences whatsoever. Psychesexual would fall at the other of a preference sprectrum.
